Blythe Optical was established to solve a common frustration with high street opticians: inflated markups on basic lens upgrades and slow turnaround times. We decided to offer direct workshop glazing focused entirely on craftsmanship and accuracy.
We cut out retail showroom overheads and focus on workshop craft. Every pair of glasses is edged in our facility using CR-39 optical polymer and assembled into hand-finished cellulose acetate or grade 5 titanium frames.
We believe in straightforward pricing and direct communication. You speak with the person who glazes your lenses, pay securely by bank transfer or cash on delivery, and receive glasses built to your exact optical numbers.
Accurate Alignment
We verify the optical centre of every lens against the customer's recorded pupillary distance. We do not release lenses that deviate from standard optical tolerances.
Material Integrity
We use solid grade 5 titanium and cellulose acetate rather than coated zinc alloys. This prevents corrosion and skin irritation during daily wear.
Direct Accountability
The technician who cuts and mounts your lenses signs off on the final inspection sheet. You get clear answers directly from our workshop team.
We mount each lens according to the exact pupillary distance on your prescription sheet. We verify optical centres on a manual focimeter before boxing.

Every cut lens is inspected on a calibrated focimeter for sphere, cylinder, and axis alignment before it leaves the bench. Frames are mechanically aligned on a level surface so the temples sit flat.
