Questions about this service

Can you solder broken titanium frames?

Titanium requires specialised inert gas welding. We inspect the frame first; standard metals are soldered on site, while pure titanium may require an off-site laser weld.

My frame is twisted after being dropped. Can it be straightened without breaking?

Most metal and acetate frames can be realigned using controlled heat and optical pliers. We assess the metal fatigue before applying pressure.

How long does a hinge screw replacement take?

A standard screw replacement and pad change usually takes under twenty minutes at our counter.

How we make your glasses

  1. 1

    Structural inspection

We check metal welds, acetate integrity, and lens stress points under bench magnification.

  2. 2

    Mechanical repair

We extract sheared screws, install matching thread replacements, or braze fractured metal joints.

  3. 3

    Warm air alignment

We warm acetate frames in our glass-bead heater to reset bridge angles and temple curves safely.

  4. 4

    Balance verification

We set the frame on a flat alignment plate to ensure both sides sit evenly without rocking.

Notes from our counter

★★★★★
I sent my favourite acetate frames to Blythe Optical for new prescription lenses. The focal alignment is exact and the bevel cut sits flush against the frame rim.
David P., Leeds, GB
★★★★☆
Ordered the titanium frames with distance lenses. The package arrived safely and the frame weighs very little on the bridge of my nose.
Sarah T., Bristol, GB
★★★★★
The glasses feel solid. Screws have stayed tight through daily workshop use and the lenses do not distort at the edges.
Colin M., Manchester, GB
