Questions about this service
Can you reglaze rimless or semi-rimless frames?
Yes. We drill rimless lenses and thread nylon cord for semi-rimless frames in the workshop.
Do I need to leave my glasses with you?
Yes. We need the physical frame for two working days to cut and edge the lenses accurately.
What happens if my old frame breaks during fitting?
We inspect the frame first to spot weak points. If brittle material cracks during our work, we contact you immediately and offer frame replacement options.
How we make your glasses
-
1
Frame inspection
We test the acetate or metal for stress cracks and verify that the rims can hold new lenses safely.
-
2
Optical measurement
We record your pupillary distance and optical centre height against your prescription slip.
-
3
Workshop lens edging
Our diamond wheel edger cuts the lens blank to match the bevel profile of your frame.
-
4
Mounting and tension test
We mount the lenses, set the frame screws, and check lens tension using a polariscope.
Notes from our counter
I sent my favourite acetate frames to Blythe Optical for new prescription lenses. The focal alignment is exact and the bevel cut sits flush against the frame rim.
David P., Leeds, GBOrdered the titanium frames with distance lenses. The package arrived safely and the frame weighs very little on the bridge of my nose.
Sarah T., Bristol, GBThe glasses feel solid. Screws have stayed tight through daily workshop use and the lenses do not distort at the edges.
